All participants must attend the Safety Meeting to shoot! The range set-up/sighting-in period lasts until 8:30 AM, and then the range goes cold for the 8:30 AM Mandatory Safety Meeting/Instructions. The match starts promptly at 9:00 am.

Gentle Shooters,
The day dawned warm but soon became downright hot as to be expected in the dog days of summer. Our intrepid shooters battled both the heat and the pins in an epic duels. Guns failed and shooters swooned, but the cream eventually rose to the top (and then curdled in the heat) as our results listed below show. Our next match is Saturday September 5th. In our ongoing attempts to modernize the matches and try out new things, we will be testing a new category toward the end of that match. By popular demand, we are going to trial a ,22lr carbine match in September. We are thinking eight pintops set across the front of the table. If successful, you could expect to see some changes in 2027 season. If you would like to help us test that out, bring a .22 carbine to the next match and expect to stay until the end.

Gentle Shooters,
The dog days of August are upon us. Legend has it that the intrepid shoot the August match every year. This is your year to answer the call. Temps will be under 90 and with a mid-summer break for the Fourth of July, I’ll bet a couple of your broke protocol and got some practice in. Regardless, we need you at the pastoral Airfield Shooting Club in scenic Wakefield. This Saturday, August 1st we will begin at 9AM under the regular rules available at our web page at www.airfieldshootingclub.org. If you are fuzzy on specific questions and long for actual human interaction, reach our pinhead as [email protected] for factual but sarcastic answers to your most vexing bowling pin questions.

Do we still have some snake relocation experts in our club? Years ago, when I was MO, I was approached by a few snake experts. I, unfortunately, did not get their names. We now have what appears to be a poisonous snake down by the 5-stand range. If you’re interested in finding and relocating this one, please contact me at [email protected]
Unfortunately, I regret to inform the club and fellow participants that the July Rimfire Challenge is canceled. Watch for further rimfire challenge announcements.

Sorry about the delay all I can say is complete system failure and data recovery of multiple terabytes is not fun to deal with

Observations from the MO:
On a recent visit to the range for a little work and shooting, I noticed that we need to do better as members, this is good for the club and our members. When returning the target backers to the shed, please strip your used targets from the backer and dispose of them accordingly, this helps the next shooter that will use that backer and is also the courteous thing to do. The board has decided that a hi-viz belt may be used instead of using the hi-viz vest. These are required for identification of the RSO, 2 of the belts have been placed in the sign in shed for use. When returning them to the sign-in shed please hang those belts back up or place the vest on the shelf. The vest have been seen laying on the floor of the shed numerous times. When removing frames and laying them down, do this as gently as possible, dropping the target frames to the ground can damage or break the frames. If the trash can is overflowing please remove the bag and place another one in the trash can, bags are located in the sign in shed, if you are able, please take the bag to the dumpster. If you do this send an email to the MO with your member number and if possible a pic and you will be given service hours. Please do not stack boxes around the trash cans, take them or have someone take them to the dumpster. It is summertime and pop up thunderstorms are possible at any given time and these winds can blow loose trash and boxes around.
Also we need to remember some of our basic rules: when opening the range, all locks should be zeroed out after unlocking. Do not share codes with non members, if members bring guests please unlock the bathrooms for the guest. If you are the last to leave the range, please check to make sure that the bathrooms have been locked up.

If you have Excel and are interested in knocking out some of your service hours in the comfort of your own home, please contact Brenda at [email protected]. The forms will need to be picked up from her house in Zuni.
Effective July 1, new rates will go into effect for clays. Due to the increased costs of the clays, trap and skeet will cost members $5.00. 5 Stand will be $10.00
