50-yd range Work

The work on the 50 and the bathroom building has begun.  Work started Saturday April 5 and was delayed until Wednesday April 16 due to material issues.  We received a $10,00 grant from DWR to help wit this work “This program is supported by the 2025 Virginia Wildlife Grant Program through a partnership between the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources and the Wildlife Foundation of Virginia.” It was pretty well gutted on Saturday April 5.   Materials arrived 4/15 and work resumed on 4/16.   There will be additional posts on the website, but this will be the last one sent out in an email.   Art Schoner ASC President

50/SRB Closure

Work will begin tomorrow, 4/4.  The range will be closed from sunrise to approximately 1500, when their workday ends.  I will post an end date as work progresses.   Art Schoner ASC President

50 Yard Range Work

The club has contracted Outland Construction to repair and modify the shelter of the 50/SRB.  This work will include the following: remove and replace the metal roof, repair/rebuild the wooden structure supporting the roof, add gutters and downspouts, capture the downspouts and run the to the culvert to the 100.  They will also be adding gutters to the restroom building.  During this work, the 50-yard range will be closed while workers are present.  Once work has started, I will post their work schedule.  Their stated intention is to leave the range in a usable condition at the end of each workday.  Please heed any roped or taped off areas and/or warning signs.  A dumpster will be delivered soon and should be placed in the middle of firing line, in the parking lot.  Hopefully, work will begin Thursday or Friday and last 2 weeks. Outland is also under contract to build a 5 Stand range for us on shotgun field #3.  While workers are in the field, the other shotgun fields will be closed.  Shotgunners, PLEASE be safe and check with the workers to ensure that they aren’t planning on going down range to work on the new houses in the …

Thank you from the MO

I want to thank all the members that took time out of their day to come out to the work party at the rang Saturday March 1st. We accomplished many goals but still have the ballistic wall to work on, possibly Sunday April 6th. I would like to make a few notes and comments about a new addition to the range. -We added target frame folders to both the SRB and the 100. We will probably update the SRB holder at a future work party but please, if you must remove a frame from the range either hang the frame or at least lean it against the frame holder to not have the frames laying in the brush. If the frame is damaged beyond repair lay the frame on the ground so that it may be disposed of properly and let me know via email so that we can take care of it. A picture is provided of the frames at the 100 yard range. -New frames were built for the SRB, 25, 50 and 100. Please make sure that only the 10ft tall frames built for the 25 are only used at the 25. They should be stored either …

BIG NEWS

Effectively immediately, the range noise restrictions on Sunday mornings have been lifted.  The range hours are now, with no restrictions, sunrise to sunset 7 days a week.   Remember that special events, like weddings, may call for a temporary cease fire for specified hours.  Check the club calendar before heading to the range! Thanks to Kathy Guindon, the center’s executive director for lifting these random restrictions!   Art Schoner ASC President

Our Treasurer is Retiring

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season and your New Year is off to a great start! Now for some important club business that needs to be addressed: Kirk Culpepper, has served as the ASC treasurer for the past five years. He has stated his desire to retire from this position at the end of the board year in July. He strongly recommends having a multi-month turn over with his replacement as there are many passwords, financial accounts, and processes to be learned and turned over. Kirk would like to have 6 months to work with his replacement and feels that this is in the best interest of all parties. He had his duties dumped on him and he has no desire to repeat that with his replacement. If you’d like to support the club and time and interest, please contact me at [email protected] or Kirk directly at [email protected]. The club treasurer is an essential member of the Board, so this position MUST be filled. The earlier we find a replacement, the easier the transition will be. Kirk has summarized his duties below: On a daily basis the treasurer monitors the various accounts of the club including …
