ASC Webmaster Position Available

ASC Members, Due to family and work commitments, after quite some time serving as the club’s webmaster I’ve decided it’s time to step down from the position. I’ve been passively looking for a member that has interest for some time, but it’s time to ramp up efforts to find a quality replacement. I’ll continue serving until we can find a replacement in a limited capacity. If you are interested in becoming a member of the ASC board, maintaining our website and email automation system, and helping out with other technology related needs for the club this might just be the position for you.  The website runs on WordPress, and is minimally customized so there shouldn’t be a huge learning curve for anyone who has WordPress experience.   If you are interested in the position and want to learn more, please send me an email. Shooter Tune up Shotgun! Shotgun Fundamentals – Jan 29.

Do you have a shotgun that you haven’t shot or haven’t shot in some time?  Now is the time!  Dale Mullin, who is a very experienced shotgun instructor and a Level II shotgun coach, will be there to help you learn to hit flying targets. Dale will help you with the fundamentals – stance, pointing etc to hit incoming, out-going and slight crossing targets. Please bring your shotgun and 2 boxes (50 shells) of ammunition.  The ammunition should contain any of the following shot sizes 7-1/2, 8, or 9 size shot. Boxes labeled for target shooting or “Dove or Quail” will be OK. If you have a choice, look for velocities between 1100 and 1200 feet per second. No need for any higher velocities. If you do not have a shotgun but you have been craving the opportunity to see what it was about, Dale will being some club 20 gauge shotguns.  You still need to bring 2 boxes of 20 gauge shotgun shells of 7-1/2, 8, or 9 shot size. Work Party Results

Thanks to the hard-working crew of 19 members who showed up and worked hard to get the range cleaned up and the new backers ready for use.  A special thanks to Jim Manning for buying the crew lunch.  Check out their work next time you visit the range. Art Schoner ASC XO

Be Patient!

Please Be Patient! I have received multiple emails asking about canceling the work party this Sunday.  I am aware that the weather forecast for Saturday is horrible.  But long term, and recent, experience has shown that while it may be spot on and rain all day Sunday, it could also change.  I will post a go/no go notice Saturday sometime afternoon after returning from the bowling pin match.  Please check the website if you haven’t received an email as the website updates immediately, but the emails can take a while. Fall Clean Up Work Party -Correction

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween.  But now that the trick-or-treating is done, it’s time to get ready for the next major event, the Fall Clean Up Work Party!  It’s scheduled for SUNDAY November 7th at 9:30. Don’t forget Day Light Savings Time ends that morning so we fall back one hour. We’ll be cleaning up the 50 yd, 100 m, and side berms, as well as general range clean up.  Hopefully, we’ll also have new backers to grommet with our new grommet press.  So come out and help beautify your club’s ranges and get your service hours in.  Please bring string trimmers, chain saws, brush cutters, open utility trailers, and whatever other tools you have that may help.  Don’t forget your PPE. I apologize for my inability to get the details included, and then correct.  (Subconsciously, I think this was a method to bombard everyone with emails in order to get as many members as possible.)  Again, sorry for the fiasco! If you have any questions, email me at [email protected].

Project Appleseed @ASC Saturday 10/23/21

This Saturday, Project Appleseed will be hosting a one-day event for Airfield Shooting Club members and their guests on the 100M range from 8am to 4pm.  The family friendly event is open to all ages and skill levels.  The event has two focus items – marksmanship and history.   Students will learn basic rifle marksmanship in different shooting positions (akin to CMP or NRA highpower), as well as hear the story of April 19, 1775, highlighting the importance of the Second Amendment and how marksmanship is woven within the cultural DNA of our nation. There are still a few slots open.  For questions or more information, reach out to Jesse Espe at [email protected].
