Please Be Patient!
I have received multiple emails asking about canceling the work party this Sunday. I am aware that the weather forecast for Saturday is horrible. But long term, and recent, experience has shown that while it may be spot on and rain all day Sunday, it could also change. I will post a go/no go notice Saturday sometime afternoon after returning from the bowling pin match. Please check the website if you haven’t received an email as the website updates immediately, but the emails can take a while.

Greetings Gentle Shooters,
We have ordered up crisp fall weather for Saturday morning, November 6th for the next installment of “how the pins fall.” Please join us for a fun filled competition at 9:30 at the engaging Airfield Shooting Club range in awesome Wakefield, VA. Directions and rules for the match are posted on the ASC website airfieldshootingclub.org. Specific questions can be directed to the acting undersecretary of pinhead affairs at [email protected]. See you Saturday.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. But now that the trick-or-treating is done, it’s time to get ready for the next major event, the Fall Clean Up Work Party! It’s scheduled for SUNDAY November 7th at 9:30. Don’t forget Day Light Savings Time ends that morning so we fall back one hour. We’ll be cleaning up the 50 yd, 100 m, and side berms, as well as general range clean up. Hopefully, we’ll also have new backers to grommet with our new grommet press. So come out and help beautify your club’s ranges and get your service hours in. Please bring string trimmers, chain saws, brush cutters, open utility trailers, and whatever other tools you have that may help. Don’t forget your PPE.
I apologize for my inability to get the details included, and then correct. (Subconsciously, I think this was a method to bombard everyone with emails in order to get as many members as possible.) Again, sorry for the fiasco!
If you have any questions, email me at [email protected].
No! No one is getting married! We’re having another work party on Sunday November 7. To minimize range down time, we’ll get started at 9:30. We’ll be doing range and berm maintenance. So, bring string trimmers, brush cutters, chain saws, or just yourself and a good pair of gloves. If you have an open utility trailer, bring that as well. We’ll be hauling off the brush we cut down. Both ranges will be closed until the work is done.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].
See you at the range.

On October 30, 2021, the Airfield Shooting Club (ASC) is hosting a Pistol Class including sec-
tions on the Law of Concealed Carry and Self Defense and Methods of Concealed Carry.
The ASC Pistol Class is intended to provide hands-on orientation to the safe handling of handguns and includes both
classroom and live-fire training. Our instructors teach both revolver and semi-auto sections in this class. In addition to
the ASC Pistol Class, over an hour long session is scheduled with Timothy W. Drewry, a Virginia licensed attorney,
who will discuss some of the legal aspects of carrying concealed firearms and self defense in Virginia. The attorney is a
certified pistol instructor too and usually remains with the class until the very end so that he may answer questions
which may arise. An additional segment of the course will include a brief discussion of some of the firearms appropri-
ate for concealed carry and the holsters or other devices which might be suited for carrying a firearm concealed.
Please note that the ASC Pistol Class, including the legal and concealed carry sections, is a non-NRA course, but it
satisfies the handgun competency requirements set forth in Virginia Code § 18.2-308.02 (B). This course is conducted
by state certified or NRA certified firearms instructors.
Those who successfully complete the ASC Pistol Class will receive a certificate which will serve as
proof of training for the purpose of obtaining a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.
The course is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. in the Spain Conference Building located at the Air-
field 4-H Conference Center (near Wakefield).
Please see the full flyer below:

Greetings Gentle Shooters,
I’d like to apologize for the tardy scores this month. The hotel I was staying at over the weekend had a broken printer. The screen on my laptop is pretty small, so I was not able to compile the scores until this evening when I arrived home. I’d like to point out that we have yet another record for lowest all time carbine string at 2.24 seconds. I am getting tired of having to congratulate Mr. Schoner month after month. Art, can you get under two seconds and end this madness?
