Gentle Shooters, I have diligently compiled the results from the latest match. Some of you had a rough day! But penmanship probably suffered the worst. There is a column for time and a column for pins and they are there for a reason. Likewise, form numbers clearly. You learned this in first grade. Along with how to clearly print your first and last name.  Unless you are Art because I know who he is and there is only one Art. You know, I swore that when I got old, I would not be grumpy. I also swore that I would eventually shoot this match clean. So please temper your expectations of me. If you are tired of the rant, take comfort in the fact that the next match is November 1st. Gentle Shooters, We have a perfect day with perfect pins on tap for this Saturday, October 4th. Just bring your perfect guns, ammo, grip, sight alignment, stance, breathing, trigger squeeze, and follow through for a phenomenal shooting experience. Gentle Shooters, Saturday dawned bright and temperate for our shooters. Both the ambient and shooting temperature took of quickly once the match began. Paul Lynch and Cort Tompkins went back and forth for the lead for fastest string in Carbine. Boys, you are still over a tenth of a second off of the record held by Cory Allen at 2.03 seconds. December is coming so there will be time to practice. And I would like to extend a personal thanks to my co-match director and plastic car co-conspirator  Art Schoner. His innovative “testing failure points during competition” program ensured that even my poor shooting could not propel me to the bottom of the aggregate rankings. Next match is Saturday, October 4th. Gentle Shooters, There were any number of dreams dashed on the ASC’s Pistol Range at the August Match. Some experienced equipment failure while others saw ammo stop working at critical junctures. There were also widespread accusations of practice between matches. The match director pointed out that we shoot matches because there is no time to practice. But with the July match cancelled due to Director apathy, technically there was time to practice, so it was allowed. Will a full slate of matches until December, practice is over until the end of the season .  And as always, the cream rises to the top. Our next match is September 6th. See you at the range. Gentle Shooters, I have called the August shoot the Dog Days shoot for as long as there has been an internet and I have run the matches. But this month, that amounts to false advertising. With temperatures forecast at 80 degrees, this might be the most seasonal dog days ever. Its a great time to join your friends at the August ASC Bowling Pin match, held at the regionally renowned 50 yard range in Wonderful Wakefield. We begin setup at 9AM sharp, more or less Saturday August 2nd. For information about the match, please see our page at the ASC site. You can find rules and suggestions there. Gentle Shooters, As predicted, it never rains on the range. We had a warm, dry day with excellent shooting conditions. If you are a lizard sunning itself. For mammals, it was hot. I’d like to congratulate Taylor Strickland for his clean run today. He left no pins. During each shooters brief, we discuss the possibility of a string that is exactly 15.00 seconds. Like Baseball, the tie goes to the runner. Mr Strickland scored a 15.00 in minor on his way to a clean shoot. A fun thing to see. During the carbine competition, Paul Lynch and Cort Tompkins were tied for fastest string. On the last string, Cort edged Paul out be 13/100 of a second. Good Shooting guys. Gentle Shooters, We are scheduled to shoot the match this Saturday, June 7 at the hopefully dry and beautiful ASC range. There is a slight chance of weather, but much like a golf course, it never rains at the range. In the unlikely event that we do expect unfavorable weather, we will post a cancellation here by 8PM Friday. While we are on the subject of cancellation, there will be no July match this year. All of your match directors are unavailable. Because of the highly unusual nature of this cancellation, we will allow practice in July. But remember, we shoot matches because there is no time to practice. Hat tip to Tom Tyrell, one of my old match mentors for that gem! Hope for Dry and see everyone Saturday. Steven

Gentle Shooters, It felt a bit like the High Plains on the range today with winds gusting to over 30 MPH.
