2021 December 04th ASC Pistol Class

On December 4, 2021, the Airfield Shooting Club (ASC) is hosting a Pistol Class including sections on the Law of Concealed Carry and Self Defense and Methods of Concealed Carry. The ASC Pistol Class is intended to provide hands-on orientation to the safe handling of handguns and includes both classroom and live-fire training. Our instructors teach both revolver and semi-auto sections in this class. In addition to the ASC Pistol Class, over an hour long session is scheduled with Timothy W. Drewry, a Virginia licensed attorney, who will discuss some of the legal aspects of carrying concealed firearms and self defense in Virginia. The attorney is acertified pistol instructor too and usually remains with the class until the very end so that he may answer questions which may arise. An additional segment of the course will include a brief discussion of some of the firearms appropriate for concealed carry and the holsters or other devices which might be suited for carrying a firearm concealed. Please note that the ASC Pistol Class, including the legal and concealed carry sections, is a non-NRA course, but it satisfies the handgun competency requirements set forth in Virginia Code § 18.2-308.02 (B). ASC Social Media/Member Interaction

Members, At the members meeting a few members asked if we could expand opportunities to interact with other club members online. Of course both of these options are optional and just a means to interact with one another. The ASC Facebook group is now private, and only verified members are within. You can get there by going here ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/airfieldmembers/ ) . When joining it should prompt and ask for your member number. We’ll only be allowing members in this group. If you don’t supply your member number as a response to the question your request will be rejected. I also added a forum to the website. Registration may take a bit as reviewing people signing up are actually members is a manual process but it is much more private than Facebook. Facebook isn’t known to be open to pro 2A conversations, or advertising of such events/goods. You can sign up for the ASC Member Forum here: https://airfieldshootingclub.org/forum/ . Once you’re there click register in the top left and register away. Initially there aren’t many members in either service, but over time we should see more activity. If you should have any issues obtaining access to either please let me know via …

Dear Club Members,   After a period of 6 months, we have finally finished and approved a major revision to the Club Rules Document.    Rules Changes July 2020   This document has undergone a SIGNIFICANT rewrite.  The format and organization have completely changed to make it easier to find information.  There has been a lot of effort to make things easier to read and clarify items.  The changes in content are primarily focused on the following areas:   Moved Guest “rules” from Bylaws to Rules Moved Facilities “rules” from Bylaws to Rules Added drawing from the holster – made it clear that drawing form the holster is authorized but muzzle control is paramount (no sweeping of people on the line) Added target section to include steel rules.  This covers where steel can be placed (Only at the berm on any range), covers minimum distance, covers how to hang the targets etc.  Also provided pictures on where to place paper targets on backers. Modified Cold Range slightly.  In particular if a member wishes to use a table to place targets on a backer, you must use an empty table or if you are doing it at your shooting point, the …
