It’s that time of year again, Time to meet and speak with our Virginia Legislatures about issues and rights that face us. The ASC wants to encourage all of our members to attend the VCDL rally in Richmond on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 8 AM – 2 PM The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) is at the forefront of protecting your rights in Virginia and we encourage all of our members to support them as much as possible. ASC Defensive Pistol

ASC Members,  Many folks have asked about our defensive pistol program, and we’ve had lots of interest shown. Our previous match director stepped down from the position. If anyone has some experience in defensive pistol matches and  has a desire to step up into a leadership role organizing the defensive pistol matches please let us know by sending an email to [email protected]

Ken Grover Memorial Open (NSSA) Skeet shoot … Oct 20th – 22nd 2018

On October 20th through the 22nd the Airfield Shooting Club will be holding the Ken Grover Memorial Open.   A NSSA registered skeet shooting competition. The competition will have the following categories: 12 gauge 20 gauge 28 gauge 410 gauge Doubles There will be a cash prize for first place in each category. The cost is $25 per gun. In order to participate you must pre-register and be a member of NSSA. On the day of the shoot you will need; 1. Cash or check for $25 for each gun.  (Checks are to be payable to Airfield Shooting Club) 2. NSSA membership card.  (You may join the NSSA at the shoot, the yearly membership is $30.00) 3. Classification Sheet. The competition will allow mixed guns each day so you may compete on any of the 3 days. Ties for Gun Championships will be determined by a Shoot-Off Monday afternoon. If shooter is unable to attend the Monday Shoot-Off then the champion will be decided by long runs from the front or back whichever is longer. WE NEED TWO RSOs ON TUESDAY, 23 OCTOBER

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will be using the Short Range Berm and 50-yard range for their annual qualification and we need two ASC RSOs to oversee them from 2:00—4:00pm. RSOs should report at least 30 minutes prior to the event, and be able to assist 4-H Center personnel to set up, provide the safety brief and range orientation to the participants, and ensure safety standards are conducted according to ASC Range Rules. No Power – Range Open on Sunday | Update Power Restored !

Due to the storm, there is no power or working well at the range. We do not have an estimate on when power will be restored. Please be advised that while the range is open, the bathrooms and houses for skeet and trap are not working.   ###################### As of 10/14/18 the power at the range is restored.

RANGE SAFETY OFFICERS REQUEST—6 October & 13 October 2018

On 6 October 2018 Grace Presbyterian Church has rented the 100 Yard Rifle Range and Skeet Ranges from 2:00—4:00pm. ASC is looking for one Skeet Range Qualified RSO along with one RSO to serve on the 100 Yard Range. RSOs should report at least 30 minutes prior to the event, and be able to assist 4-H Center personnel to set up, provide the safety brief and range orientation to the participants, and ensure safety standards are conducted according to ASC Range Rules. This is a great way to get some service hours. If you’re interested contact: [email protected].   On 13 October 2018 Peninsula Community Chapel has the Skeet Ranges from 10:00am—Noon. ASC is looking for two Skeet Range Qualified RSOs to assist/coach RSOs should report at least 30 minutes prior to the event, and be able to assist 4-H Center personnel to set up, provide the safety brief and range orientation to the participants, and ensure safety standards are conducted according to ASC Range Rules. RSO’s Needed for Skeet Range August 11 1400-1600

The Airfield Shooting Club is looking for two Skeet Range Safety Officers (RSOs) on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 2 PM to 4 PM to oversee the safety of 21 men who are from a coaching group using the range. This is a great opportunity to obtain some volunteer hours and ensure that visitors to the ASC ranges have a SAFE opportunity to practice their shooting skills and support the Second Amendment.
