Project Appleseed at Airfield Shooting Club

Project Appleseed will be holding a one-day clinic on the 100M range on Saturday, June 20 from 8:00am to 4:00pm.  This event will teach students the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship, including concepts such as developing a solid shooting position, natural point of aim, and steps required to fire a successful shot.  In between rifle instruction segments, students will learn about the Battles of Lexington and Concord, and the fateful events that moved the colonials down the path to independence on April 19, 1775. This is a family friendly event, and all skill levels and age ranges are welcome.  Bring whatever centerfire or rimfire rifle you have.  If you don’t have a rifle, we can provide loaner rifles with some advance notice. Signup is available at www.appleseedinfo.org, under the Events tab.  Walk-ons are welcome, though space is limited.  Airfield Shooting Club members attending this event will have their range fee waived; bring your credentials with you to the event. For questions, please contact Jesse at [email protected] .

Letter from Club President | COVID-19 Status

Dear Members, As fellow shooters we recognize the enjoyment of shooting and the hardship that closing the range causes for our members. However, the COVID-19 virus has proven to be deadly and at this time there is still much which we do not know about it. Medical professionals have made it clear that they and their facilities will be quickly overwhelmed if we are not able to slow the spread of the virus. We have already had at least one situation where club members may have been exposed to the virus. Both are presently nearing the end of their 14 day post-exposure quarantine period and at present it appears that they were not infected. However, we cannot always count on such good fortune. It appears that the virus can remain viable for relatively long periods of time on objects which we might come into contact with during routine use of the range. Many of our members are in the high-risk category. Even members who are not in the high-risk category may have family members who may be at higher risk. At this point we are hearing reports of people dying from the virus who were reported to be healthy and …

ASC Range Closed Effective 03/27/2020 PM

ASC Members, The ASC board made the difficult decision to close the range for access, and shooting by all members effective tonight 03/27/2020 when we will change the combinations to prevent access. The ASC board is carefully reviewing the overall situation with COVID-19 and will continue to assess the appropriateness of opening the range for use. The safety of our members, lack of services to maintain the restroom facilities, and overall COVID-19 situation contributed to our decision making.I will send a notice to the club should the situation change. Please keep an eye on the website, your email and the range calendar for up to date information. The ASC board did not make this decision lightly, and feel at this time it’s the right choice. Members that access the range after it’s locked, and receiving this notice will be considered in violation of the closure and will face disciplinary action up to and including removal from the club. If you have questions about this decision you can email [email protected], or the board at [email protected].

Virginia Gun Rights: A Call To Pens !

A CALL TO PENS! Fellow Members of ASC, as we are sure you are aware the last election did not go our way as gun owners.  The newly elected officials for 2020 are already proposing draconian laws that in some cases will make most of us felons (Class 6 – minimum 5 year prison term) with the stroke of pen unless we turn in our firearms.  The time to act was during the election, but now it is imperative that we rise up and make our voices heard and pray that it is not too late. Many of the cities that our members live in are having 2A Sanctuary City votes and discussions.  At this point the resolution may mean little legally, however it does send a message to Richmond that we the people are not going to stand for our rights to be infringed.  Time is of the essence.  There are already 20 cities/counties that have passed 2A Sanctuary Resolutions, but we have a long way to go.  If your city/county has not yet had a 2A Sanctuary City Resolution vote we would like to encourage you to contact your city or county representatives and let them know your …

VCDL Reminder: Elections coming up on Tuesday, November 5, are absolutely crucial to protect our right to keep and bear arms

ASC Members, One of the goals of ASC is to work to preserve our rights and educate others concerning the shooting sports. The Virginia Citizen’s Defense League provides outreach, support, and helps to ensure our firearms rights are preserved. About twice a year we feel it’s appropriate to send an email letting our members know about VCDL and include pertinent information about elections or other key gun rights issues. This year may bet the most important one yet to stay informed. Below you will find two links to the VCDL for your reference.
