June Bowling Pin Match

Gentle Shooters, Just a quick reminder that we will have a Bowling Pin Match on Saturday, June 5th at 9:30 at Airfield Shooting Club range. Please be prompt as we have a pistol class that will need the range shortly after we finish. Rules for the match, as well as directions to the range are available at airfieldshootingclub.org. Individual questions may be directed to your convenient local pinhead at [email protected]. Also, we do not need anyone to go to the bowling alley today as previously emailed. They only have a few pins and a member will be retrieving them today. Steven

Bowling Pin Acquisition – Wednesday June 2

We have an opportunity to get more bowling pins from a different lane. I’d like to put out an email to the bowling pin list to get some of our shooters to help move the pins. We can get the pins after 4 PM at AMF Chesapeake Lanes 112 Medical Parkway E Chesapeake VA 23320. I’d say lets meet at 5. That gives them time to open up. Once loaded, we will drive the pins to the warehouse at Gordon Paper, 5713 Ward Ave Virginia Beach, VA 23455 for storage. We learned one thing from the last pin pickup. Any member that has a hand truck, please bring it. Questions please contact Steven at [email protected] or (757) 560-7311.

May Day Bowling Pin Match Results

It was truly a beautiful day at the range. I am not certain why we are not drawing more shooters. Perhaps it is the availability of ammunition. We can’t fix that, but if it is something else, we’d sure like to know. Reach out to our resident pinhead in training at [email protected]. For those of your lucky enough to make it to the range today, the scores are posted below. The next match is Saturday, June 5th. April Bowling Pin Match Results

It turned out to be crisp but lovely day for a match at the range. I guess a few of you are still practicing or scrounging up ammunition. For the nine of us who did attend, we go to see a little of everything including some spectacular early season failures. In addition, today’s contestants witnessed a new club record for clearing five pins from a table. Art Schoner now holds the club record for a 2.38 second relay. Congratulations. For the rest of us, the good, the bad and the just plain embarrassing results are listed below. See you next month at the range. A Bowling Pin Farewell to 2020

Gentle Shooters, I am always a bit melancholy for this post, which is my final match report for 2020. It has been an eventful year for all of us. Like many things, our season was shortened. For some of us who are used to being out and in front of people but now relegated to sitting behind a computer screen all day, just seeing old friends and being able to participate in an event we truly love was something to look forward to each month. Thanks to each and every pin shooter who came out in blistering heat and oppressive humidity. Thanks for helping to get the tables built, set up and broken down each month. . For going on pin patrol, finding and carting pins to the warehouse. Thanks for the atmosphere and the camaraderie. And most importantly, thanks for being safe competitors. On the note of competition, just a reminder to never give up. Our top two five gun aggregate shooters this month were separated 92/100’s of a second. Congratulations to both of them. Kudos to Art Schoner’s decisive carbine win. He has been gunning for it for a while now. Our next match will be Saturday, April …
