Airfield Defensive Shooting Matches

 

A competition held on the fifth Saturday of the month on the 50m or 100m range (if there is no fifth Saturday then no match will be held). During the hot summer months we generally do not hold matches June, July, and August but in the cooler winter months January, February, and March we hold matches on the first Saturday of the month while the bowling pin shooters are taking hiatus

Setup begins at 8:00 am, safety briefing begins at 8:30 am follow by walkthrough of the stages. Please arrive on time for safety briefing

 Shooters are placed in scenarios ranging from practical defense to the O.K. corral where multiple targets at varying ranges Will need to be engaged in a race against the clock while utilizing basic defensive skills such as use of cover, emergency reload, tactical reload, target sequencing, and target identification. Scoring for the match is time plus penalties, poor accuracy, missing targets, hitting no shoot targets, and procedural errors all will result in added time to the time of your initial run fastest time wins 

Participation Fee & Prizes

The match entrance fee is $5.00 for ASC members and $10.00 for the general public. Your fee covers one relay. Each additional relay is $2.

There are no prizes for winning the match other than the adoration of your shooting buddies.

Categories

  • Semi – Auto Handgun
    • Major: 10mm or larger center-fire handguns.
    • Minor: 40 S&W or smaller center-fire handguns
  • Revolver
    • Any cylinder operated center-fire handguns may be used.
  • Rifles
    • Any center-fire firearm that can be properly shouldered may be used.
  • Rim-Fire
    • Only rim-fire pistols or rifle may be used.
  • Shotgun
    • Any 12 or 20 gauge shotgun that is able to be shouldered maybe used
  • Two gun
    • Any Centerfire rifle that has a removable magazine or a bolt that locks back on a empty fixed magazine (m1 Garand, sks, 1903 Springfield and similar) Centerfire handgun semi-automatic or revolver

 

All you need to compete is a  handgun, holster, and three or more magazines or a rifle and three or more magazines or a shotgun and some ammo
