About
The Airfield Shooting Club is a shooting sports organization supporting rifle, pistol and clay target sports in southeastern Virginia.  Founded in 2005, we are a vibrant community of shooters. If you enjoy the company and camaraderie of fellow shooters devoted to the preservation and expansion of the shooting sports in our area, we are the club for you. We have a strong emphasis on safety, education and training, public service and fun. We shoot at the Airfield 4H center in Wakefield Virginia, centrally located south of highway 460, We are one hour or less from the greater Tidewater and Richmond metro areas.

We are affiliated with;

  • National Rifle Association (NRA) and we are a NRA Gold Medal club member (10 years +)
  • Virginia Shooting Sports Association (VSSA)
  • Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
  • National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA)

Youth Shooting Program
Our Swamp Shooters program is tied in with the 4-H Shooting Education. And teach kids 9-19, safety, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior with Archery, Rifle, Air Pistol and Shotgun disciplines.  The program has certified instructors that have collectively, over a century of shooting and 4-H experience.

Range and Facilities
Our club features 50 foot, 50 yard and 100 meter ranges, with covered firing points. We also have a full skeet and trap ranges.  Our skeet and trap ranges feature an automated target counting system with electronic release. There is a small Archery field and we have full heated and air-conditioned rest rooms for our gentlemen and lady members.

We share the range facility with the Airfield 4H center. The Center’s primary use of the facility is for 4H summer camp, district 4H shooting competitions and instructor education.   Our regular hours are sunrise to sunset six days a week.  (We are also open all day on Sundays, but try to be good neighbors by limiting noise between sunrise and noon.)

We schedule friendly competitions on the range including our very popular Bowling Pin matches.
We also have Service Rifle matches (CMP like) and Defensive Pistol matches (IDPA like),
See our Club Programs section of the site for details on these matches, which are open to the public.
Other than these matches, the range is only open to members and their escorted guests only.
