ASC President's Commentary -- Opportunities are Knocking

In my last newsletter column, I advertised our next Women on Target class coming up on Saturday, November 14, 2009.  I was one of the instructors at the last Women on Target class held in April of this year.  We had fifty enthusiastic ladies that attended.  As one of the instructors, I witnessed ladies that were initially nervous or unsure, and whose statements were “I’m not sure I can do that.” or “Do I have to shoot a rifle?”, but soon those statements changed to “Let me try that again!” or “I cannot wait to buy my own rifle (shotgun, pistol, etc.).”  The class provide

Chief Instructor's Corner -- Boy Scouts

Boy Scouts - We’ve recently been doing a lot of work with Boy Scout groups.  I’m always excited when we have the opportunity to introduce young folks to the shooting sports.  There is so much misinformation out there about firearms that it is WONDERFUL to have the opportunity to properly inform those who will decide the future of our sport.  Due to Boy Scout requirements this work falls primarily on those of us who hold NRA instructor credentials, but each and every one of you can help in y

Please do not set items upon the target frames to use as targets. When you miss the mark, all to often you hit the frame tearing it up. This cost your club money and resources to repair and replace.  Place targets on the cardboard provided and hang them in the approved fashion.

In the near future The frames will be painted red and carry a do not shoot reminder.

Skeet Key Update

Posted in

Those of you who use our skeet range may or may not be aware that we’ve run into some minor issues with our skeet keys.  The keys that have been issued are what we refer to as “count-up” keys.  They allow our members to keep track of the rounds they’ve shot by counting up as targets are selected on the control panel.  The keys have a built in safeguard in case they should be lost and fall into the hands of non-members.  The keys will not allow more than 2000 targets (that is 80 rounds of skeet) to be thrown until their programming has been refreshed.

Shooting Chrony Beta Master Review

I have been reloading for a long time but it was usually just to save money for target practice, so I usually just used the starting load in many of the books. Sometimes I would modify a few things to see what would happen but for the most part if went boom when I pulled the trigger it was good.
