Bowling Pins are Back!
The Airfield Shooting Club is pleased to announce the return of the bowling pin matches. The Club Board of Directors has approved restarting the matches, but we do need to show that there is still demand for them. We need everyone to turn out and shoot.
The first match of the new decade will be held this Saturday January 9th at 10 AM. We could use some help setting up around 9:30 AM at the range. The weather forecast calls for a clear cold day, so dress warmly and in layers. If the weather looks too bad to shoot, (muddy) we will send a cancellation notice by 9 PM Friday. For more information, please contact me at steven.gordon@airfieldshootingclub.org. Because of the cold, we won’t attempt lunch at the range this month.
As we move forward, we are hoping to schedule the match on the second Saturday morning of each month. There may be some interruption to the schedule this spring. The club is planning improvements to the range and there will construction at the facility. When the modifications are finished, the 50 and 100 meter ranges will be able to operate independently so that we can offer even more shooting opportunities for club members.
When we last got together as a group, we tossed out several ideas for the matches. One of the most popular is a top gun competition. The award will recognize shooters who have performed the best over several matches. In order to qualify, you will need to shoot at least half of the matches in the season. Our first season will probably run from January through June of this year. For shooters that shoot more than half of the matches, we will drop your lowest scores. We are doing this to encourage as much participation as possible. So come on out and shoot.
