ASC Defensive Pistol "Cold Steel Match" - Saturday December 30th - Updated with Course of Fire

Airfield Shooting Club will hold an Outlaw “IDPA like” match this coming Sat, 30 Dec  2017.  This will be an ALL steel four stage match.  All targets are STATIC STEEL.  There will be NO reactive targets so there will be NO resetting targets between shooters. There will be NO paper targets so NO pasting (none … honest).  There will be NO target painting.  Unless a target stand or target hanger gets shot away; there will be no pausing between shooters and stages.  Turn time will be fast … be ready to shoot! And shoot again …

Welcome to the “COLD STEEL” end of year ASC Defensive Shooting match:

The web site (listed below) gives directions and discusses this pistol/Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) match. We will be using the IDPA standards for procedures and firearms. Sign in starts at 0915 but you can sign in anytime up until 1300 (a.k.a. 1 pm EST) . Shooting begins at 1000.  Sign up is available only at the range.  Set up begins at 0700 … could really use some help as the steel gets heavy!

Weather forecast is for COLD … darn COLD but no rain, snow, etc. Consider wearing shooting gloves.

The Course of Fire will come out on Friday. Making a few modifications to increase round count.  Current round count is 68 so bring plenty of ammo.  Some items to please note:

1.       Again, the general focus is on longer range engagements and high round count per stage. Hence, per stage round count is almost maxed out at 18 each.

2.       Minimum range will be 10 yards and max range will be 35 yards.

3.       Given the layout; this is an ideal PCC match.

For NEW shooters: If you do not have a holster but want to shoot the match please come out; we’ll start you from a low ready position!  You can stuff your extra mags in your pants pockets or tuck them in your waist belt. Note: Three mags are needed for the match but you can make it with two … as a new shooter).  And of course you will need a firearm.  Semi-auto 9mm and larger will work or a revolver.

Hope to see you at the range.
